August Weekends with Art, Community, and Wonder
Two August Weekends Filled with Art, Community and Wonder

August is arriving with two wonderful Treasure Valley traditions, and I am delighted to share that Elizabeth Van Tassel Studios will be part of both of them.
These weekends are about far more than setting up a booth. They are opportunities to meet new friends, reconnect with collectors, encourage young artists and share the stories behind the paintings and hand-shimmered pieces. There is something especially meaningful about bringing art into the heart of a community celebration—where families are gathering, music is playing and people have time to pause and discover something unexpected.
Kuna Days 2026
Saturday and Sunday, August 1–2
Bernie Fisher Park and downtown Kuna, Idaho
We will begin the month at Kuna Days, where I am honored to participate as a Featured Artist during this year’s “Red, White and 250” celebration.
Kuna Days is a beloved community tradition filled with family-friendly activities, vendors, food, live entertainment and many wonderful free events. Saturday includes the morning fun run, the Kuna Days parade, a free Kids Carnival, music and dancing throughout the day, and the community fireworks show at dusk. Sunday begins with the colorful hot-air balloon launches, weather permitting, followed by another day of vendors, food and live performances.
Our booth will be filled with:
Original paintings
Hand-shimmered art
Art-inspired gift items
Colorful home goods
Small treasures designed to bring beauty and light into everyday spaces
I will also be sharing more about the process behind my Shimmers of Light—artwork carefully enhanced by hand so that it catches and reflects little pieces of light as you move past it.
Please stop by, introduce yourself and spend a few moments surrounded by color. I always love hearing which landscape reminds you of home, a favorite journey or a place you hope to visit someday.
Nampa Festival of the Arts
Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Lakeview Park in Nampa, Idaho
The following weekend, we will return to the Nampa Festival of the Arts, another vibrant celebration of creativity, music, food and family fun.
This event holds a special place in my heart. Last year, my painting The Glimmering Glade received an award at the festival, and it is a joy to return with a year’s worth of new artwork, discoveries and stories to share.
Visitors will be able to explore original paintings inspired by Idaho and the greater West, hand-shimmered prints, giftable art, home goods and a selection of one-of-a-kind treasures from the studio.
The Nampa Festival of the Arts brings together artists working in many different mediums, making it a wonderful place to wander, discover something new and introduce children to the wide world of creativity. I especially treasure the moments when young artists visit the booth, ask about paint or color and begin imagining what they might create themselves.
Art That Connects and Inspires
This summer has reminded me again that artwork does not simply live on a wall. It becomes part of a home, a memory, a conversation and sometimes even a turning point.
A painting may remind someone of the lake where their family gathered every summer. A small shimmer may become an encouraging gift. A child may watch an artist at work and realize that creativity belongs to them, too.
Those are the moments I carry home from each event.
Thank you to everyone who has visited our booth, shared a story, encouraged this growing studio or welcomed a piece of my work into your home. Your support allows us to keep creating—and to keep finding new ways to offer beauty, light and wonder to our community.
I hope you will join us for one or both of these August weekends. Come say hello, see what is new and enjoy two beautiful celebrations of art and community.
