The original work of art can be found here.

Painted en plein air on the dock at Little Payette Lake, The Casting Light captures a quiet moment of natural beauty that turned into something joyfully unexpected.

Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, blue waters, and pine-covered slopes, the scene was already alive—fish jumping, birds soaring, mountain breezes dancing across the lake.

Then, across the water, a bright orange figure appeared—slowly growing larger as he paddled closer. A fisherman in a dry suit, casting his line in the stillness.

He became the focal point of the painting—bright, bold, and full of life.

But the story didn’t stop there.

The fisherman—Dan—came ashore, struck up a conversation, and asked about the painting. We talked about art, family, and the joy of simply being in the moment.

This piece is a celebration of spontaneity, connection, and the way beauty and story intersect when we least expect it.
