9x12 original gouache

While writing a short story for an anthology, I researched the existence of real butterflies that have clear places in the wings. To me that was a magical discovery. I kept thinking, what would you see if you got to peer through them? So this moment, with the butterflies dancing at night in the field of shimmering trees and wispy gardens represents the feelings of my story in The Sun Still Rises Anthology honoring an author friend who passed away. There is tenderness and hope anew in this moment captured by gouache and shimmers in the night.
